Global Africa CIES, a subsidiary of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES), fosters rigorous scholarship, multilingual dialogue, and policy innovation to address educational challenges in Africa and its diaspora. Rooted in the legacy of CEPARRED and inspired by the University of Chicago’s Comparative Education Center, we empower scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to drive transformative change

Our Approach

Global Africa CIES fosters Pan-African scholarship and policy innovation in education through:

Multilingual research and publications (English, French, Portuguese)

Biennial conferences bridging scholars, policymakers, and practitioners.

Training programs for gender equity and decolonial pedagogies.

Collaboration with institutions like Cornell University and the University of Johannesburg.

Digitized 1998–2004 editions of JEDIRAF, Africa’s premier bilingual journal of comparative education.

Gender Equity Training

2023 Workshop Series: Mainstreaming Gender in African Education Systems. Trained 150+ policymakers and NGO leaders in collaboration with FAWE and UNESCO. Distributed the manual "Intégration permanente du genre dans les systèmes éducatifs" across 10+ Francophone nations.
